Kriya-yoga: Seeking The Essence of Yoga PracticeAlthough a few human beings over the ages have been born with highly evolved consciousness, most of us have to work at – if not struggle – to uncover some kind of solid, enduring balance of our own.
Kriya-yoga signposts three ways of supporting us on our path to such lasting balance.
The first is
Tapas, a Sanskrit word that means to “purify through heating” (the practice of yoga may be seen and experienced as a fire burning inside); the second one is
Svadyaya, learning about oneself, the true Self, beyond the psychic structure of the ego; the third one is
Isvara pranidhana, becoming aware of that which shines in each and every human being and, at the same time, pervades the whole universe and beyond.
Kriya-yoga is by no means another modern “style” of yoga: it is considered one of the main teachings given by sage Patanjali in the
Yogasūtra, a core text on the philosophy and practice of yoga.
On this retreat, studying kriya-yoga gives us a framework for practicing asanas, pranayama and meditation.
Every yoga session strikes a balance between softness and intensity. Our practice should be soft, meaning it should respect our physical condition, and intense, meaning it must have the strength to go through the many layers that overlay our true being.
Lectures, dialogues and leisure time to enjoy the many treats Mandali offers complement our mat-based work.
The total cost of the retreat ranges from €1140 (shared accommodation) to €1690 (premium single room).
