There is a quiet wisdom that arises when we pause and truly listen—to the heart, to our breath, and to the tender truth of impermanence. Grief is not a problem to be fixed, but a natural and necessary response to love and loss. In times of death, endings, and uncertainty, the heart longs not only for solace, but for deeper connection—to compassion, loving-kindness, joy, and equanimity. These four qualities—the Four Immeasurables—offer a steady refuge in the midst of sorrow.
This retreat is an invitation to meet grief and loss with presence, tenderness, and courage. Whether you are facing the death of a loved one, accompanying someone through the process of dying, or mourning the loss of someone still living, your experience is welcome here. Some relationships end through death; others must be released for the sake of healing, safety, or self-respect. And still, there are the quieter griefs that arise from life’s natural transitions—the emptying of a home as a child moves out, the aging of the body, changes in identity, or the closing of a meaningful chapter. Grief, as a response to life’s impermanence — both in its seismic shifts and its quieter transitions — is complex and tender. Here, we honour the full spectrum of loss, and the love and meaning that live beneath it.
Through the grounding practices of Insight Yoga—a weaving of mindful movement, Buddhist teachings, and modern psychology—we will explore how to open to loss without closing the heart. Yoga, meditation, and self-inquiry become pathways to stay rooted in the body, to soften around pain, and to connect with the wholeness that holds it all.
Together, we’ll explore how the Four Immeasurables can support us in the grieving process. Loving-kindness helps us feel held. Compassion allows us to touch suffering with care. Joy, though often forgotten in grief, offers a quiet strength that helps carry what feels unbearable. And equanimity gives us spaciousness, a place to rest amidst the waves.
With compassion and joy as our two oars, we find balance. One without the other, and we move in circles. But together, they carry us forward—toward clarity, connection, and a deeper trust in life as it is, even when it includes loss.
In this supportive space, Erinbell will guide you to feel into your experience just as it is—physically, emotionally, and mentally. The yoga and movement practices build strength, flexibility, and resilience, while the teachings nourish the heart and awaken the spirit.
Come as you are. Bring your grief, your questions, your love. Let us remember together that healing does not mean forgetting, and that even in sorrow, we can still touch moments of beauty, meaning, and peace.
